New BRE Guide Published

To assess the impact of a new development on daylight and sunlight, many planning authorities use the BRE publication ‘Site layout planning for daylight and sunlight: a guide to good practice’. This gives guidelines on loss of light to existing buildings and gardens, and on daylight and sunlight provision in new buildings.

The BRE Report (first published in 1991) has now been completely revised to include additional guidance, and to tie in with other documents including the revised British Standard Code of Practice for daylighting, BS8206 Part 2.
